Crime of the Week, August 5, 2008

This week Nashville Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of $1000 cash, for clues called in to 74-CRIME that help solve this robbery and shooting of an elderly man in east Nashville.

On Wednesday, May 21nd, 2008, at approximately 5:45 in the afternoon, a 70 year old man and his wife were sitting on their porch in the 900 block of Shelby street when they were approached by a young man wearing a covering over his face.  The man demanded the elderly victims money but the victim refused.  The robber pulled a gun from his pocket and threatened to shoot the victims wife.  He began patting the man’s pockets to see if he had a wallet.  The elderly victim tried to push the robber away when the robber fired a shot into the victim. The gunman ran around the victims’ house, to an alley, where he disappeared.  An ambulance took the elderly victim to the hospital where he was treated for his gunshot wound and released.

The gunman was described as a male black in his mid 20’s and is approximately six feet tall and thin.  At the time of the shooting he was wearing a black tee shirt with some writing on the front of it, black pants and a black bandanna. 

East precinct detectives hope that someone may have heard about this crime and will call crime stoppers to share what they know.

If you have information which might help metro police solve this robbery and shooting of an elderly man in the 900 block of Shelby street in east Nashville, call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.  If the information results in the arrest and prosecution, Nashville Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of $1000 cash.
