Metro police department gang detectives, along with members of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, this afternoon apprehended murder suspect Rodrickus “Rico” Jefferson.
Jefferson, 23, was taken into custody at 2:45 p.m. while in the front passenger seat of a car that was leaving the Parkwood Villa apartment complex on Brick Church Pike. During a search of the car, officers recovered a nine millimeter semi-automatic pistol from under the driver’s seat. The driver said Jefferson stashed the gun under the seat when he saw the police.
Jefferson, of Chesapeake Drive, is charged with the January 14 shooting death of Antonio Markee Greer, 26, inside a home at 1917 Cephas Street. Greer was shot one time in the neck and died at the scene. Jefferson has a lengthy arrest history, which includes drug, weapons, robbery, burglary and assault charges.
