FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 12, 2007

Several components of the East Precinct are working diligently to develop leads in the fatal shooting of Jose Flores, 30, inside his Joseph Street home Sunday night.

Friends and family were gathered at Flores’ residence for a cookout in the back yard when six male teenagers/young adults armed with handguns and wearing bandanas over their faces ordered everyone into the house where they demanded money and car keys.

At least one of the victims struggled with a suspect and yelled, “Police”. As the suspects fled through the yard, one of them fired a single shot through a window striking Flores. Flores was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died during surgery at 11:15 p.m.

Anyone with information as to the identities of those responsible for this murder is urged to contact the East Precinct Investigations at 862-7525 or Crime Stoppers at 74-
CRIME. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
