
Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative, which took place Friday afternoon/evening resulted in 37 arrests including 13 felonies, 38 misdemeanors, and eleven outstanding warrants. Seizures included 44.6 grams of marijuana, 4.1 grams of cocaine, and one weapon.
At least once a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the six precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crimes and activities in various areas of Nashville.
Friday’s enforcement consisted of 25 SID detectives and six patrol officers. Areas targeted were the 800 block of North 2nd Street, Dickerson Pike at Trinity Lane, the 300 block of Trinity Lane, the 2500 block of Clifton Avenue, 14th Avenue North at Ireland Street, 16th Avenue North at Jo Johnston Avenue, Lewis Street at Lafayette Street, Trimble Street at Claiborne Street, 23rd Avenue North at Osage Street, 24th Avenue North at Burch Street, 12th Avenue North at Cephas Street, the 2400 block of Buena Vista Pike, North Dupont Avenue at Delaware Avenue, the 300 block of Rio Vista Drive, Kings Lane at Kingview Drive, Panorama Drive at County Hospital Road, Village Trail, Tuckahoe Drive, Bellshire Drive, Chesapeake Drive, and the Edgehill Avenue area.
The Metropolitan Police Department’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative has now netted 848 arrests involving 926 misdemeanor charges, 184 felony charges, and 219 outstanding warrants.
