FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 7, 2007

A 16-year-old wanted for probation violation had a nine-millimeter semi-automatic pistol stuffed into the waistband of his pants as East Precinct officers arrived to arrest him Wednesday. Thankfully, he never got a chance to use the gun.

A family member let officers know that the wanted teenager was inside an apartment on South 6th Street. When Officers Kevin Allen and Rachael Miller arrived and let the teen know that he was under arrest, he immediately tried to get away. As the officers attempted to control him, the 6’2” teen kept reaching for his waistband. Once he was handcuffed, the officers discovered the loaded pistol and disarmed the teen, prompting him to try to spit in Officer Miller’s face.

In addition to two counts of probation violation, the teen is now also charged with unlawful gun possession and resisting arrest. He is being held at juvenile detention.
