The man charged in a hit and run accident that injured a three-year-old girl says he left the scene of the accident because his driver’s license was suspended.
James Langford, 45, of Arthur Avenue, was driving a blue Ford Thunderbird on 11th Avenue North at Buchanan Street when he struck the girl after she ran into the street at 7 p.m.
A short time later, Langford returned to the scene of the accident as a passenger in the Ford. His sister, the car’s owner, was driving.
Langford is charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, driving with a suspended license, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. A metal pipe was found in his pocket. He is being held in lieu of $3,000 dollars bond.
The girl is in stable condition at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
