FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 27, 2007

Sex Crimes detectives are working to determine whether any other victims are connected to a church mentor and state health department employee charged Wednesday night with two counts of rape by fraud for his alleged ongoing sexual relationship with a teenage boy.

Randall K. Madison, 48, of Longleaf Court, was taken into custody at the Tennessee Health Department in the Cordell Hull Building where he works as an administrative assistant. Madison’s work computer was seized. A search warrant was subsequently executed at his home.

Madison has been under investigation by Sex Crimes Detective Bryan Doersam for the past week after information was received that Madison had been involved in the ongoing sexual relationship that began in 2005 when the victim was 15. Madison met the victim through his role as a youth mentor at a church in North Nashville.

The investigation shows that in early 2005, the teenager got into trouble for looking at Internet pornography on Madison’s work computer. It is alleged that Madison continuously told the teen that he could go to jail for looking at Internet pornography and that if the boy didn’t agree to a sexual relationship he would have the victim arrested. The arrest warrants charge Madison with raping the boy on August 1, 2005, and September 1, 2006. Additional charges may result as the investigation continues.

Anyone who has knowledge of any inappropriate conduct by Madison with minors is urged to contact the police department’s Sex Crimes Unit at 862-7540.

Madison is being held in lieu of $200,000 bond.
