FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 30, 2007

A 13-year-old boy is being held at Metro juvenile detention on two counts of attempted rape for assaulting women in common areas of the South Brook apartment complex at 5101 Linbar Drive in South Nashville.

The teenager, who looks much older than 13 and weighs approximately 190 pounds, was taken into custody at his apartment in the South Brook complex Sunday night. He was identified from a photo lineup shown separately to last night’s victim and a July 18th victim of attempted rape. He is under investigation in a case from July 9.

South Precinct officers responded to the complex at 6:35 p.m. Sunday after the 36-year-old victim reported that she was attacked by the suspect. She successfully fought him and he fled.

During an interview with Detective Heather Baltz at police headquarters, the 13-year-old admitted to the assaults, including some that may have gone unreported. Detective Baltz will be following up on the information given by the suspect. Additional charges could result.
