South Precinct detectives are investigating this afternoon’s discovery of a body in a vacant lot near the intersection of Lewis and Garden Streets.
A man looking for cans found the body, which was in an advanced state of decomposition and under a piece of plastic, at 1:40 p.m. The body appeared to be that of an adult black man. No identification was found at the scene.
The cause of death was not readily apparent. The medical examiner will attempt to determine the cause during an autopsy tomorrow.
