The man found dead Monday afternoon in a vacant lot on Lewis Street near the Garden Street intersection appears to have died as the result of blunt force trauma to the head.
No identification was found on or around the victim. He is black and probably in his 20s. He was wearing a black long sleeve shirt and baggy blue jeans with the words “South Pole” in large letters on a pant leg. Efforts will be made to identify the victim through fingerprints; however, the advanced state of decomposition will make that more difficult.
A man looking for cans found the body under a piece of plastic at 1:40 p.m. Monday.
Anyone potentially able to identify the victim through the clothing description is urged to contact South Precinct Investigations at 862-7763.
