The woman killed in Monday afternoon’s single-vehicle accident on Smith Springs Road near Old Anderson Road is identified as Minna Elisabeth Evans, 66, of Lancashire Drive.
Evans was driving her 1989 Cadillac Seville west on Smith Springs Road when her car veered to the right. She over corrected and the Cadillac traveled across the eastbound lane and struck a tree on the driver’s side before it collided with a utility pole and rolled over. Evans, the only occupant in the car, was not wearing her seatbelt. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The contributing factor to this fatal crash appears to be Evan’s failure to maintain her vehicle in the proper lane.
