FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 8, 2007

Officers assigned to Glencliff High School today arrested a 17-year-old 9th grader for bringing a pistol onto campus.

The 17-year-old had been involved in fights after school Wednesday and just before school today. Staff at Glencliff received information that the 17-year-old might have a gun in his car. An assistant principal checked the vehicle with officers standing by. Inside the trunk was a .22-caliber semi-automatic pistol. It was not loaded, but bullets were found in a small bag near the gun.

The 17-year-old claimed he bought the gun on the street about a month ago for $120 and had it in the car for protection. He was charged at Juvenile Court with carrying a gun on school property.
