Youth Services and Hermitage Precinct detectives are investigating Tuesday night’s shooting in the McGavock High School parking lot.

At 10 p.m. an altercation took place between two groups of people. Shots were fired striking Janiel Harris, 16, as she stood between suspects in a small, dark green or black SUV and a gunman described as a black man wearing dark clothing. Harris was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she is in stable condition.

Later, Octavious Lamont Martin, 19, arrived at Baptist Hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg. He reported he was in the parking lot at McGavock High School when he was struck by random gunfire. He was transferred to Vanderbilt with non-life threatening injuries.
