Three persons died as the result of three separate Nashville automobile accidents during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

The driver of a Pontiac Grand Prix died in a fiery collision at 4:20 a.m. Friday after the car struck the rear of a tractor-trailer rig on I-24 west near Haywood Lane. The victim was burned beyond recognition. He has been tentatively identified as a 26-year-old Nashville man. A confirmation of the identity is pending a review of dental records. Speeding was a contributing factor to the crash.

On Saturday afternoon, eight-year-old Max Nance died after being struck by a taxi cab minivan while crossing 25th Avenue near Jess Neely Drive. The victim was on his way to the Vanderbilt University football game and stepped in front of the vehicle.

On Saturday night, Jose Itzep, 50, was struck by a minivan and killed while attempting to cross Murfreesboro Pike near Rural Hill Road. Itzep was reported to have been impaired while visiting a nearby convenience market minutes before the collision. Itzep’s presence in the roadway outside of any crosswalk was a contributing factor to the collision.
