
Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative, which took place Saturday and Sunday resulted in 50 arrests involving 15 felonies, 56 misdemeanors, and two outstanding warrants. Seized were 16 grams of marijuana, 3.5 grams of cocaine, and two weapons.
Saturday’s enforcement consisted of 15 SID detectives, four patrol officers, and one canine unit. Areas targeted were the Madison area, the 300 block of Trinity Lane, Harding Place, Linbar Drive, Nolensville Pike, Old Hickory Boulevard, Antioch Pike, Richards Road, Lewis Street, and Shepard Place.
Sunday’s enforcement consisted of nine SID detectives and seven patrol officers. Areas targeted were the J.C. Napier public housing development, University Court, Trimble Bottoms, Harding Place at Tampa Drive, and Nolensville Pike.
So far this year, the police department’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative has netted 1,933 arrests involving 2,139 misdemeanor charges, 355 felony charges, and 352 outstanding warrants.
