
Friday night’s Christmas parade and 5K Rudolph Red Nose Run, both downtown, will make for a traffic challenge during the evening rush hour.
The parade begins at 7 p.m. The 5K run begins at 6:30 p.m.
Broadway between 7th and 13th Avenues, along with 9th and 10th Avenues North, will close at 5 p.m. to allow for the staging of parade elements. Broadway between 1st and 7th Avenues will close at 6 p.m.
Traffic will be prohibited from crossing Broadway between 7th and 13th Avenues at 6 p.m. through the end of the parade. Traffic will be prohibited from crossing Broadway between 1st and 7th Avenues at 6:30 p.m. through the end of the parade.
The parade will begin at 7th and Broadway. It will travel east on Broadway to 2nd Avenue, turn left on 2nd Avenue to Union Street, turn right on Union Street to the Woodland Street Bridge, and then end at LP Field.
The 5K run begins on North 1st Street, comes into downtown via the Woodland Street Bridge, makes a loop and then ends on Russell Street near LP Field. The Woodland Street Bridge, North 1st Street between Spring and Woodland Streets, and all points around LP Field will close at 6 p.m. for the run.
Police officers on fixed posts at downtown intersections will provide directions.
