West Precinct detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting Sunday afternoon of Larry Laneal Driver, 32, of 6th Avenue North.

Driver was shot in front of 6565 Premier Drive. He was transported to St. Thomas Hospital by Kevin Blair, 29, at 4 p.m. where he died a short time later.

At 3:50 p.m. a car driven by Joshua Buford, 24, of Holland Lane, ran through a red light at the intersection of Charlotte Pike and Brook Hollow Road hitting the driver's side of a minivan. It was discovered that Buford had been shot multiple times. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he is in critical condition. The driver of the minivan was transported to Centennial Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives are investigating whether a drug-related altercation between Driver and Buford may have led to the shooting. Both are convicted cocaine dealers.
