FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 18, 2007

Dental records confirm that Lemerio Fields, 20, of Priest Lake Drive, was the man killed in last Friday’s fiery two-vehicle collision on Bell Road. Fields was a passenger in a Dodge Neon driven by his co-worker, Japeth Thompson, 19, of Old Hickory, Tennessee. Thompson was giving Fields a ride home from FedEx on Knight Drive when he crossed the center line and struck a northbound pickup truck at 9:25 a.m. The Neon caught fire. Citizens were able to pull Thompson to safety, but Fields was trapped and died at the scene. Thompson is in stable condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The driver of the pickup, Wardell Carter, 39, of Lincoya Bay Drive, was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
