Metro police officers, including those working extra duty through a grant from the Governor’s Highway Safety Office, will be conducting sobriety checkpoints Saturday night in the vicinity of Harding Road, Franklin Pike, and Dickerson Pike between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m.
In 2006, nearly half of all fatal crashes in Davidson County were caused by impaired drivers. The police department conducts sobriety checkpoints as an enforcement tool to identify and arrest intoxicated and/or impaired drivers which is a matter of significant public concern.
