Two men are in custody after a clerk overpowered them during a robbery Monday night.
Jon Beshires, 35, of York Road, and Jesse Lax, 22, of Olivia Drive, entered the Shell gas station at 1110 Bell Road at 9:45 p.m. The clerk alleges Lax demanded money at the register while Beshires took beer from a cooler. The clerk, armed with a club he kept behind the counter, began to fight the suspects. During the struggle, Beshires pulled out a knife. The clerk managed to force the suspects outside, where a citizen joined him in detaining the men until police arrived. The clerk suffered minor cuts to his arm and hand.
Beshires and Lax are both charged with aggravated robbery. Each is being held in lieu of $50,000 bond.
