East Precinct detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a woman wanted for shooting an acquaintance in a dispute over a hairdo.
Nikeya Alston, 26, who is last known to have lived at Copperstone Village Apartments on Litton Avenue, is named in an aggravated assault warrant for shooting Tiffany Jackson, 25, Friday night. The investigation shows that Alston was unhappy with the way Jackson's roommate braided her (Alston's) hair the day before. Alston demanded that the roommate redo her braids on Thursday. The victim’s roommate refused.
Early Friday morning, Jackson discovered her car tires had been flattened. She suspected Alston. At 6:50 p.m. Jackson was approached by Alston outside her apartment. An apartment maintenance worker and the victim’s roommate witnessed Alston, armed with a handgun, shoot the victim before fleeing. The victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and treated for a gunshot wound to her leg.
Alston’s arrest history reflects charges for assault, disorderly conduct, and vandalism.
Anyone seeing Alston or knowing her whereabouts is urged to contact Crime- Stoppers at 74-CRIME or East Investigations at 862-7525.
