FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 18, 2008

The man fatally shot in his home early this morning is identified as James Shearon, 61, of Watts Terrace.

Shearon’s wife reported that she and her husband were asleep in their bedroom when they heard the back door forced open at 3 a.m. She heard gunshots moments after her husband got up to investigate the noise. Shearon was found lying on the kitchen floor.

Nothing appears to have been taken from the home, but robbery has not been ruled out as a possible motive. Detectives continue to investigate why the house was targeted.

Anyone with information about Shearon’s murder is urged to call West Precinct Investigations at 862-7385 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
