
Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative, which took place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday resulted in 66 arrests involving 14 felonies, 65 misdemeanors, and nine outstanding warrants. Seized were 18.5 grams of marijuana, .8 grams of cocaine, one weapon, and $259 cash.
At least three times a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the six precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crime and activities in various areas of Nashville.
Friday’s enforcement consisted of seven SID detectives, six patrol officers, and one canine unit. Areas targeted were Ramsey Street, Trinity Lane, Garfield Street, Buchanan Street, and Harding Place.
Saturday’s enforcement consisted of 12 SID detectives, six patrol officers, and two canine units. Areas targeted were the Cumberland View public housing development, the 2100 block of 26th Avenue North, 12th Avenue North at Buchanan Street, Dickerson Pike, North 2nd Street, 11th Avenue North at Jefferson Street, the Andrew Jackson Courts public housing development, and Algonquin Trail.
Sunday’s enforcement consisted of nine SID detectives and six patrol officers. Areas targeted were the J.C. Napier public housing development, Harding Place, Nolensville Pike, and Hickory Trace Drive.
