Three persons died in separate automobile crashes Friday night miles apart from each other.
A 48-year-old Nashville woman died at the scene of a 10:45 p.m. crash involving her Volkswagen Cabriolet and a Jeep Grand Cherokee on Springfield Highway near Baker Station Road. Efforts continue to locate her next-of-kin.
The Volkswagen was traveling south in the northbound lane of traffic when it collided with the northbound Jeep being driven by Margaret Ellis, 59, of Ridgetop. Ellis was critically injured and transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
It is not known why the Volkswagen was in the wrong traffic lane. There was no indication of alcohol involvement at the scene.

Tracy Wade Garner, 40, of Old Hickory, died at the scene of a 7:25 p.m. crash involving his Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck and three other vehicles on Murfreesboro Pike at Town Park Drive.
Fatal crash investigators believe that Garner failed to yield as he turned onto Murfreesboro Pike from Town Park Drive. His pickup truck was hit in the driver’s side by a Chevrolet Tahoe traveling south on Murfreesboro Pike. The impact caused Garner’s truck to rotate in the roadway where it was struck by two other southbound vehicles. It then rolled onto its roof and slid to a final rest in the northbound lanes.
A total of four persons from the other involved vehicles were transported to area hospitals with non-critical injuries.
There was no evidence of alcohol involvement at the scene.

Stephen Lynch, 51, of Joelton, died at the scene of a 5:30 p.m. crash involving his Chevrolet Camaro and two other vehicles in the 6000 block of Clarksville Pike.
Lynch was traveling south on Clarksville Pike when the Camaro crossed the center line and collided with a Chevrolet Malibu. The collision sent the Malibu into a yard on the west side of Clarksville Pike and caused the Camaro to rotate into the northbound lane where it was hit by a Chevrolet Cavalier.
Lynch’s passenger, Andrew Brabston, 42, of Chapmansboro, was critically injured and transported to Vanderbilt. The driver of the Malibu declined medical treatment at the scene. The driver of the Cavalier, William Taylor, 51, of Ashland City, was critically injured and transported to Vanderbilt. Taylor’s passenger had non-critical injuries.
Evidence of alcohol, in the form of beer cans and a vodka bottle, was found in Lynch’s vehicle.
