West Precinct detectives are investigating whether this morning’s shooting death of Terry Benjamin Bradley in the 1300 block of 12th Avenue South was justifiable.
Dyvonta Allen, 19, of Paris Avenue, told officers that he fired after Bradley hit him on the head with a beer bottle and came at him again during a 4:30 a.m. argument.
Allen fled the scene after the shooting, but returned a short time later and has been fully cooperative with police. Information Allen provided led to the recovery of the pistol from his home. Allen does not have an adult arrest history.
Bradley, 41, died at the scene. He had a lengthy arrest history and was convicted of kidnapping just yesterday in Criminal Court. Bradley received a ten-year sentence to be served on probation.
Allen was released from custody after a detailed interview with Detective Brad Putnam. The completed case file will be sent to the District Attorney’s Office for review and potential presentation to the Davidson County Grand Jury.
