Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative, which took place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday resulted in 54 arrests involving six felonies, 53 misdemeanors, and 12 outstanding warrants. Seized were 9.8 grams of marijuana, 1.7 grams of cocaine, two pills, and one weapon.

At least three times a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the six precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crime and activities in various areas of Nashville.

Friday’s enforcement consisted of seven SID detectives, four patrol officers, and two canine units. Areas targeted were the J.C. Napier public housing development, University Court, Harding Place, Paragon Mills Road, Edgehill Avenue, and Nolensville Pike.

Saturday’s enforcement consisted of 14 SID detectives, four patrol officers, and one Office of Professional Accountability officer. Areas targeted were University Court, the J.C. Napier public housing development, Murfreesboro Pike, and Thompson Lane.

Sunday’s enforcement consisted of eight SID detectives and six patrol officers. Areas targeted were the 200 block of Tampa Drive, 8th Avenue South at Clark Place, Nolensville Pike, Harding Place, Haywood Lane, Linbar Drive, Lutie Street, and Murfreesboro Pike at Plus Park Boulevard and Foothill Drive.
