The man critically wounded at 2nd Avenue North & Church Street at 6 a.m. Sunday has died.
Nicholas James Joseph, 25, of Nashville, had just left the Twilight Zone after-hours club on 2nd Avenue. He was walking with two women when a fight erupted between them and several other women. During the fight, Joseph was blindsided by a punch and subsequently shot. Officers continue to investigate a report that Joseph had pulled his own gun prior to being wounded.
Joseph was driven by a friend to General Hospital and transferred to Vanderbilt, where he died late Sunday after undergoing surgery.
Central Precinct detectives are working to identify the person who shot Joseph, who may have fled in a black Toyota Camry. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Leonard Peck at 862-7069 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
