Leon Calvin Gay, 51, is charged with criminal homicide for last night’s stabbing death of Randall Wayne Walton, 46, outside an abandoned building on the grounds of a former golf driving range at 6950 Charlotte Pike.
Gay, who was living in the building, said Walton, who was also homeless, began yelling at him through the door at 11 p.m. Gay went outside to confront Walton and the two fought. Detectives believe Gay fatally stabbed Walton after pinning him to the ground.
Gay walked to a nearby Wal-Mart and reported the stabbing to a security guard.
