FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 6, 2008

The man arrested earlier this week for pistol whipping a woman on Portland Avenue has now been identified as the same person who injured a 51-year-old man during a carjacking the same day.

Nacee Cannon, 18, is charged with robbing William Council, Jr., at gunpoint as he sold clothing from his GMC pickup on 12th Avenue South near Argyle Avenue Monday afternoon. Council fought the suspect and was thrown from his truck. He suffered a broken leg and head injury. Council is in stable condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Council positively identified Cannon as the man who robbed him.

Cannon is charged with especially aggravated robbery in both cases. He is also charged with evading arrest and vehicle theft in Monday night’s Portland Avenue attack.

Cannon’s photo is not being released pending lineups in similar cases.
