A quick response by Hermitage Precinct Patrol officers to this morning’s alarm at Hickman Elementary School on Ironwood Drive led to the arrest of two burglary suspects and likely prevented the theft of valuable property.
James Randall Smith, 19, of Mount Olive Road, and Angelo Catalanotto, 25, of Antioch Woods, were stopped as they walked away from the school building at 3 a.m. Officers found six windows had been pried open.

Catalanotto admitted his involvement in the break-in and is charged with burglary and marijuana possession. He has had three prior theft convictions and a felony motor vehicle burglary conviction. He is being held in lieu of $12,000 bond.
