Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative, which took place Friday and Saturday, resulted in 62 arrests involving 64 misdemeanors, six felonies, and six outstanding warrants. Seized were 38 grams of marijuana, 10.6 grams of cocaine, and 120 various pills.

Officers and supervisors representing each of the six precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crime and activities in various areas of Nashville.

Friday’s enforcement consisted of 14 SID detectives, 25 patrol officers, and two canine units. Areas targeted were the James Cayce public housing development, Litton Avenue, the J.C. Napier public housing development, Dellway Villa Road, Dickerson Pike, North 2nd Street, Douglas Avenue, Gallatin Pike, Main Street, Buchanan Street, Clifton Avenue, Booker Street, Charlotte Pike, 28th Avenue North, Blank Street, Tampa Drive, and Harding Place.

Saturday’s enforcement consisted of four SID detectives, 27 patrol officers, and one canine unit. Areas targeted were Madison Park, Old Hickory Boulevard, McFerrin Avenue, University Court, the Cheatham Place public housing development, the James Cayce public housing development, Lafayette Street, Murfreesboro Pike, Haywood Lane, and Thompson Lane.
