Metro Police patch

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 4, 2008

Months of painstaking investigative work by Metro Police Fraud detectives, the Postal Inspector, Smyrna Police, and Secret Service, led to the arrest of two young men in a credit card skimming scheme that potentially affected hundreds of restaurant patrons in the Hickory Hollow Mall area.

William Hundley, 21, of Joann Court, is charged with theft of property and two counts of identity theft. A 17-year-old is charged in Juvenile Court with two counts of identity theft. More charges against the pair are expected.

Hundley and the teen are accused of going online to order credit card skimmers, which electronically captured personal debit and credit card information from restaurant customers as they paid their bills. Hundley and the teen enlisted workers at these restaurants to perform the actual skimming. They then encoded the stolen information on gift cards they used at area stores to purchase clothing and expensive electronic items.

Hundley is free on $10,000 bond. The juvenile has also been released.

Anyone who feels they may have been a victim in this case is asked to call the Fraud Unit at 862-7594.
