A murder warrant has been issued against Shatika Renee Maupin for Friday night’s drug-related stabbing death of Ellard Lonnie Shankle inside Shankle’s home at #2 Decatur Avenue.

Shankle’s body was discovered at 6:30 a.m. Saturday by other occupants of the residence. The medical examiner subsequently confirmed that Shankle, 53, died from a stab wound to his left chest.

The investigation headed by Hermitage Precinct Detective Johnny Crumby reveals that Shankle and Maupin, 30, consumed drugs Friday night and then got into an argument over drug money. The stabbing took place during the argument.

Anyone seeing Shatika Maupin, who is believed to be homeless, is urged to contact the Emergency Communications Center at 862-8600 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
