Metro Police patch

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 21, 2008

Two Metro Jail inmates in custody for unlawful gun possession and theft now face a murder charge for the February 10th shooting death of Brandon Harris on the side of Rice Road near Rural Hill Road.

Harris, 34, of Northfield Boulevard in Murfreesboro, was found by a passing motorist on the night of February 10.

Investigation by South Precinct Detective David Achord has led to the issuance of homicide warrants against Roger Wayne Battle, 27, and Jessie Louis Lobbins, 22, both of Chesapeake Place. Detectives believe Harris was killed because he was talking badly about Battle.

Battle and Lobbins have been in jail since early March when they were arrested by the Gang Unit on charges of unlawful gun possession (both are convicted felons) and theft. Gang detectives learned that Lobbins had been in custody since age 16 for kidnapping and robbery convictions out of Memphis. He had been free for just 36 days prior to his March arrest. Battle has convictions for aggravated assault.
