East Precinct Patrol Officer Sungjun Park early this morning spotted a car on Ellington Parkway near Trinity Lane that had been reported stolen in April.
The driver of the 1999 Ford Taurus, Steven Kimbro, 20, of Rosehill Drive, refused to stop. He led police on a brief pursuit before he bailed from the car and fled on foot in the 2600 block of Brickdale Lane. He dropped a loaded pistol on the ground as he ran from officers.
Kimbro was captured a short time later behind an apartment building in the 3300 block of Creekwood Drive. He is charged with evading arrest, vehicle theft, unlawful weapon possession, and driving on a suspended license. Kimbro has past convictions for drug possession and unlawful weapon possession.
