Police Department Names Two New Captains & Eleven New Lieutenants

September 29, 2006--Nashville, TN

Chief Ronal Serpas today announced the promotion of 13 supervisors, two lieutenants to the rank of captain and eleven sergeants to the rank of lieutenant, effective Sunday.  Serpas and Mayor Bill Purcell congratulated the 13 and presented them with their new badges this morning.

These 13 outstanding police professionals have a combined 160 years of service to the citizens of Nashville,” Serpas said.  “They are committed to doing all they can to ensure the safety of our neighborhoods and will be integral members of the department’s mid-level management team.  I look forward to what I know will be many important successes under their leadership.”

Those being promoted are:

  • New Captain Mike Alexander, a 15-year police department veteran who was promoted to sergeant in 2001 and lieutenant in 2004.  He was most recently assigned as the Hermitage Precinct’s evening shift supervisor and will now be one of the department’s Captain Field Supervisors.
  • New Captain David Imhof, a 13-year police department veteran who was promoted to sergeant in 2001 and lieutenant in 2004.  He was most recently assigned as the South Precinct’s midnight shift supervisor and will now be one of the department’s Captain Field Supervisors.
  • New Lieutenant Kenny Dyer, an 18-year police department veteran who was promoted to sergeant in 2000.  He was most recently assigned to the Training Academy and will now be the South Precinct’s midnight shift supervisor.
  • New Lieutenant Terrence Graves, a nine-year police department veteran who was promoted to sergeant in 2004.  He was most recently assigned to South Patrol and will now be the North Precinct’s day shift supervisor.
  • New Lieutenant Damian Huggins, a 14-year police department veteran who was promoted to sergeant in 2000.  He was most recently assigned to North Patrol and will now be the East Precinct’s day shift supervisor.
  • New Lieutenant Brian Johnson, a 13-year police department veteran who was promoted to sergeant in 2004.  He was most recently assigned to Central Patrol and will now be the South Precinct’s evening shift supervisor.
  • New Lieutenant Natalie Lokey, a ten-year police department veteran who was promoted to sergeant in 2004.  She was most recently assigned to the Training Academy and will now be the Hermitage Precinct’s day shift supervisor.
  • New Lieutenant William Mackall, a 14-year police department veteran who was promoted to sergeant in 2001.  He was most recently assigned to the Specialized Investigations Division and will now be the North Precinct’s evening shift supervisor.
  • New Lieutenant Justin Pinkelton, a ten-year police department veteran who was promoted to sergeant in 2004.  He was most recently assigned to Central Patrol and will now be the East Precinct’s evening shift supervisor.
  • New Lieutenant Ben Rodgers, a ten-year police department veteran who was promoted to sergeant in 2004.  He was most recently assigned to East Patrol and will now be the Central Precinct’s midnight shift supervisor.
  • New Lieutenant Andrea Swisher, a 13-year police department veteran who was promoted to sergeant in 2001.  She was most recently assigned to the Domestic Violence Division and will now be the Central Precinct’s evening shift supervisor.
  • New Lieutenant Horace Temple, a ten-year police department veteran who was promoted to sergeant in 2004.  He was most recently assigned to East Patrol and will now be the Hermitage Precinct’s evening shift supervisor.
  • New Lieutenant Doug Vinson, an eleven-year police department veteran who was promoted to sergeant in 2004.  He was most recently assigned to South Patrol and will now be the West Precinct’s midnight shift supervisor.

 

A number of existing lieutenants will take on new assignments effective Sunday.  They include:

  • Lt. Randy Alexander, who is transferring from North Patrol to head South Precinct investigations;
  • Lt. Charles Beasley, who is transferring from South Patrol to the Training Academy;
  • Lt. Melvin Brown, who is transferring from Fugitives to become the South Precinct’s day shift supervisor;
  • Lt. Charles Carter, who is transferring from the Traffic Section to the Specialized Investigations Division;
  • Lt. David Corman, who is transferring from East Patrol to head the Traffic Section;
  • Lt. Warren McConkey, who is transferring from Central Patrol to the Specialized Investigations Division;
  • Lt. Shawn Parris, who is transferring from East Patrol to head the School Crossing Guard Section;
  • Lt. Pat Taylor, who is transferring from South Precinct investigations to head the Homicide/Cold Case Unit.
